ST LEGER & VINEY

ST LEGER & VINEY’S DESIGN FOCUS was held on the 28th March 2012,  at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture within the University of Johannesburg.

The day was hailed as an outstanding success by all who attended and perfectly matched ST LEGER & VINEY’s mantra of ‘inspiring through design’.

Our guests heard international and local industry speakers of an extremely high calibre, sharing their knowledge and insight into the varied world of design.

We were exposed to fast cars, Spanish castles, uniquely South African city retreats, great food, fabulous prizes, fun people and enormous learning.  The speakers and their products and stories all showed artistry in their individual fields and we are all the better off for our interaction with them.

The exceptional speakers included local design wonder boys Jamie Clyde and Phillipe van der Merwe who collaborated on the design of the revolutionary Slow Lounges.

David Walker of Sanderson delivered a presentation which was most illuminating about textile design, historical influences thereon and modern interpretations thereof.   Timo Resch of Audi, came to us straight from the airport, having weathered an overnight flight  and wowed the delegates with his professionalism and insights into the process behind vehicle design and fitting.  Audience members with no discernable interest in motors and engines were enraptured!

A fabulously styled lunch was apparently effortlessly produced by the talented Vicky Crease and her team before we re-convened to swoon and ooh and aah over the truly gorgeous fabrics and most stimulating talk by Susanna and Jose of Lizzo.

Nicky Haslam ‘ designer to rock stars and royalty’ did not disappoint treating us to a presentation full of imagery and anecdotes.  He was charming and effusive about all that he experienced in South Africa as a guest of ST LEGER & VINEY.

Nicky wrote, “…AND OF COURSE THE WHOLE TIME IN SOUTH AFRICA WAS WONDROUS, AND WAS, IS, ALL DUE TO YOUR SUBLIME CARE AND GENEROSITY.

FROM THE MOMENT I LANDED I  FELT A  SENSE OF EASE MIXED WITH THE UNEXPECTED, ALWAYS THE BEST SENSATION. THE REALITY AND MEMORY FUSES INTO A  WEEK OF PURE PLEASURE, AND I’M DEEPLY GRATEFUL. ”

These speakers were namely, Susana Pulido from Lizzo (left) as well as David Walker (bottom right) from Sanderson and Nicky Haslam (top right) renowned British interior designer.

We received numerous thank you’s from customer which was gratifiying to the team and we thank all of the sponsors who enhanced the day and all of the guests who joined us.
